The legal battle between Avvo and class-action lawyer Steve Berman heated up Thursday, with the online lawyer-rating service asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit.

The Seattle startup, which launched its service June 5 and was slapped with a lawsuit nine days later, argues that its free attorney-rating system is protected by the First Amendment.

It notes that John Henry Browne and Alan Wenokur, plaintiffs in the case, are attempting to squash the ability of people to question lawyers’ skills. And it says that they aren’t the first attorneys to do so.

Hmmm… why get soo touchy about it…!!!
