Love has always been compared to madness. And I think it probably is. Coz it probably makes you do things you would not do otherwise. Some may call this feeling insanity. I guess it is… But, I also think this madness is what drives love! And in turn, drives the world!! 🙂
Dil ek mandir had some really beautiful songs picturised on the beautiful Meena Kumari. Feel like sharing one of them with you! It is my favorite and Lata’s rendition is so beautiful, you wont even realize when you well up!!
Lyrics:
Hum tere pyar me saara aalam kho baithe hain
kho baithe hain
Tum kehte ho ki aise pyar ko bhul jao
bhul jao
Panchi se chuda kar uska ghar
Tum apne ghar par le aaye
Yeh pyar ka pinjara man bhaya
Hum jee bhar bhar kar muskaye
Jab pyar hua is pinjare se
Tum kehne lage aazad raho
Hum kaise bhula dein pyar tera
Tum apni zuban se ye na kaho
Ab tum sa jahan me koi nahi hai
Hum to tumhare ho baithe
Tum kehte ho ke aise pyar ko bhul jao
bhul jao
Hum tere pyar me saara alam
Is tere charan ki dhool se humne
Apni jeevan maang bhari
Jab hi to suhagan kehlayi
Duniya ki nazar me pyar bani
Tum pyar ki sundar moorat ho
Aur pyar hamari pooja hai
Ab in charano me dam nikale
Bus itni aur tamanna hai
Hum pyar ke gangajal se balamji
Tan man apna dho baithe
Tum kehte ho ki aise pyar ko bhul jao
bhul jao
Hum tere pyar me saara aalam
Sapno ka darpan dekha tha
Sapno ka darpan tod diya
Yeh pyar ka aanchal humne to
Daaman se tumhare baandh liya
Ye aisi gaanth hai ulfat ki
Jisko na koi bhi khol saka
Tum aan base jab is dil mein
Dil fir to kahin na dol saka
O pyar ka sagar hum teri
leheron me naav dubo baithe
Tum kehte ho ki aise pyar ko bhul jao
bhul jao
This song always makes me wanna cry… I think its the lyrics and how Lataji sang it. It’s so beautiful!
Beautiful song!!
Love is indeed blind..my friend eloped at the age of 21..she braved all odds, had an inter caste court marriage, faced flak frm relatives/in laws, disowned by her own parents..now fortunately alls well..
my sound system is screwed up :(..but old songs r romantic
Nova,
‘Is tere charan ki dhool se humne
Apni jeevan maang bhari
Jab hi to suhagan kehlayi
Duniya ki nazar me pyar bani
Tum pyar ki sundar moorat ho
Aur pyar hamari pooja hai
Ab in charano me dam nikale
Bus itni aur tamanna hai
I find it regressive, not romantic.
Hmmmm…. Such a beautiful song!
Wonderful song 🙂 i guess the lyrics of old hindi songs were simply superb.. there are some songs which when I listen brings tears into my eyes… sung so beautifull, written so well, with a soothing music… aahhh good old bollywood songs.. 🙂
Songs of the movie Guide are also superb.. hear them sumtime.
@ Swats
ur friend is indeed brave and very lucky too…
@pr3rna
its insane.. thats what love is 🙂
for a change i could load this vedio at office and enjoyeeeed!! maja aa gaya!! 🙂 Thanks! 🙂
Guess you’ve dedicated this song to someone 😉
Love and madness, two sides of the same three-sided object… Third side is blank… 😀
Wish I could understand the words. Really super song and music. I think you have dedicate this to your love. Be happy!
@Kanan: It makes me wanna cry too!!! Beautiful beautiful lyrics!!
@Reema: Yeah 🙂
@Swats: It is 🙂 Oh swats, you must get hold of this song… its lovely 🙂
@Pr3rna: Hmmmm see it is romantic, because from ages, women have thought of themselves as only home makers and their only duty being the welfare of children and husband!!!
@Priti: Yap 🙂
@Sharad: yeahhh 🙂 I love the songs of Guide 🙂
@Sakhi: Hehehehe ur welcome 🙂
@Manasa: Hehehehhe not really… and considering the lyrics, I hope i dont have to… ever 😉
@Nikhil: Hehehehe true 🙂
@Man of Roma: Will try to put up a translation for you! 🙂
Thank you. And I also like सितार very much!
Interesting..!!! tell us abt a few carzy/mad things that you have done in this sea of madness… 😀
People were lucky then to have time and to were able to listen to songs like this…. Well… we…. live more in illusions.. 🙂
@MoR: Wow!! You know how to play Sitar? And know the devanagari lipi?? Impressive!!! 🙂
@Pradeep: Hehehehhe when do you come online Prady?? 😉
@Sathish: We all have time to do things. We need to just find it 😉
Always have loved this song and this movie.
Ah ah, no, I can’t. I play the guitar and piano, not the sitar. And I wanted to lurk your reaction by just copying and pasting that (hindi?) word (meaning sitar?) from Wikipedia!! 🙂
PS
The sound of sitar is just OUTSTANDING and so refined. Like ALL Indian classical music. Don’t really know if this music you posted is classical Indian music or just a modern song. But I like it the same. Also my wife is in love with India (not to mention my sister that has converted to hinduism) 🙂
@MOR –> This song is not pure indian classical, this is a mixture of semi classical and light music. The song is composed in DES raag and in taal dadra (6 beats). Its very difficult to make this kind of a composition in as profound raga as DES.
I confess I have not knowledge enough on these things 😦
mmm..beautiful song..I love hindi oldies..but never heard this one..Thanks for sharing..
“Hum pyar ke gangajal se balamji
Tan man apna dho baithe”..aha…
